π CHARACTER NAME: Sasara Nurude CANON: Hypnosis Microphone CANON POINT: Post-aikata back again AGE: 26 BACKGROUND: In a post-WW3 world where violence has been barred, fights over territory are carried out via rap battles. (More on the over-all world of Hypnosis Microphone) Sasara is a stand-up comedian, and one half of a former manzai duo together with Rosho Tsutsujimori. Back in Ikebukuro, he was part of the rap group Mad Comic Dialogue alongside Samatoki Aohitsugi before they split up on uncertain but negative terms. Now, as MC Tragic Comedy, he is the leader and founder of the Osaka Division representative rap group Dotsuitare Hompo.
PERSONALITY:
Sasara loves to make people laugh, he even goes so far as to consider it his calling. He loves his job as a stand-up comedian and his fans. However, despite his on-stage talent as a comic, the jokes he tells in private more often than not cross the border into a vast land of bad puns. Even with time passed, Rosho is quick to comment on that, and it seems to be a shortcoming that Sasara has always had. If those crummy jokes don’t land, he tries to explain them. β¨Either way, he laughs at his own lousy humor regardless of others’ critique and pays little heed to the—at whiles—poor timing of it. Sasara also frequently finds comedy in others’ expressions, whether or not it was intended, and calls them out on being funny or terrible; he compliments Rosho’s off-stage wit often and laments his inability to do the same on stage, back when they appeared as a duo.β¨ Sasara’s solo track Tragic Transistor is full of dajare, a kind of Japanese word play that relies on words with different meanings but similar sounds. Like puns, they make up very simple jokes.
At the same time, if talking over his friends is taken to mean that he’s selfish and careless, that could not be further from the truth! …Even if that is an assumption that’s easily made by his apparently placid demeanor. He goes out of his way for their sake. Dotsuitare Hompo’s drama track reveals that, when Sasara receives his Hypnosis Mic, his former comedy partner is the first person he thinks of asking to join his group. Despite Rosho quitting their duo because of severe stage fright, Sasara doesn’t hold that against him. He still has encouragement, understanding and kind words for his once-partner. It’s friends first! He wants to help out and not just pressure them, to the point of being too concerned for their well-being to say anything that would force them to carry on. Similarly, his split with Samatoki isn’t something he is keen to discuss.
Sasara doesn’t carry his grief out into the world, keeping his reservations and arguments to himself, initially, and letting a situation play out to gain the most from it. Urged by one of his co-workers to meet Rei Amayado, Sasara’s inner dialog on the drama track displays his original apprehension to meet up with the man, before agreeing to go for the sake of finding out more about his shady business—thinking to gather material for his next show from it! Discovering that Rei is far from a straight business man, and that Rosho is unfortunately involved with him, he doesn’t confront Rei before warning Rosho. However, he's in the end also willing to let Rei join his group, interested in the turn-out.
Sasara cares a great deal about other people’s dreams and will lend his support to fulfil them. When Rosho plans to attend a meeting with Rei in the place of one of his students with hopes of making it big, he goes with, and as his friend’s anxiety once again keeps him from performing, Sasara is there to encourage him, has his back. Even if they don’t team up again as comedians, he wants to help Rosho to overcome his stage fright through joining him in the rap battles. On Dotsuitare Hompo's group track Sasara jumps in to aid a struggling Rosho with his lyrics.
Duo stays duo and Sasara’s loyalty is unshakeable. After splitting up with Rosho, he continues to perform as a solo comedy act because he is convinced that no one can replace his old partner at his side.
POWERS/ABILITIES: The Hypnosis Mic originates from a world where weapons have been banned and words are now the means to acquiring and defending one's territory. Sasara has one such device in his possession and is able to battle with it. Words sung through a Hypnosis Microphone can inflict physical harm, depending on the user's talent. Sasara can lay down a good flow, but he has no extraordinary physical abilities otherwise.

Sasara’s solo track Tragic Transistor is full of dajare, a kind of Japanese word play that relies on words with different meanings but similar sounds. Like puns, they make up very simple jokes.
Sharp-witted and observant, Sasara takes care when to listen and when to talk. He balances an overtly curious nature with restraint. Among friends, though, his mouth frequently gets away from him and he goes on in conversations past the point of their original intent, such as when he initially wastes time on pressing one of his gags rather than warning his friend about the scam he's fallen victim to.
At the same time, if talking over his friends is taken to mean that he’s selfish and careless, that could not be further from the truth! …Even if that is an assumption that’s easily made by his apparently placid demeanor.

While tickling a laugh here and there, Sasara is over all of a calm disposition and aims to share that inclination with his peers.
He tries to hold Rosho back from his rash decision to fight Rei, after learning that he duped them, and tells him to calm down when he is all too bent on continuing their battle. In the past, Sasara’s calmness was even a match for Samatoki’s raging temper.
He definitely appears to be the most composed member in either of his groups (MCD and DotsuHon). Facing a rap battle, however, both his talent and temperament are unleashed and he doesn't shy away from fighting hard, which makes him a strong ally and opponent.
Sasara cares a great deal about other people’s dreams and will lend his support to fulfil them.
